Have you ever skipped dinner with friends because you were stuck in traffic? Or missed your child's school play because of a late evening at work? Maybe you've had to sacrifice your weekend hobbies just to recover from the week's exhausting commute.
In India's metro cities, we're not just losing time to commutes--we're losing moments that matter.
It hit us hard when we realized: the average Indian spends 21 days a year just getting to work and back.
In Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, it's even more brutal - up to 750 hours
annually. That's:
93
full workdays
250+
hours of lost sleep, that impacted your health
50+
books read—helping you grow personally & professionally
300+
hours you could have spent learning a new skill
For six years, I spent three and a half hours every day commuting to work—including Saturdays. That's over 1,000 hours a year, or 257 days of my life, lost to traffic, overcrowded trains, and endless waits for transport. No matter how motivated you are, this time is unproductive and draining.
One incident that stayed with me was when a colleague chose a lower-paying job simply because it was closer to home. It made me realize how much people value time over money when it comes to their daily lives. This sparked the idea for InRadius: what if we could help people find jobs closer to home and help companies hire talent nearby?
The benefits go far beyond convenience—more time for family, health, and personal growth; less traffic on the roads; and reduced environmental impact. It's about improving lives in ways that truly matter.
If you've ever felt the toll of long commutes or seen its impact on your loved ones, I invite you to join us in spreading the word. Together, we can make work-life balance a reality for millions.
