In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security, performance, and integrity of our organization's databases. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, implementing, and optimizing database security solutions to protect sensitive data against unauthorized access and breaches. Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and manage database security solutions, including but not limited to Imperva Secure Sphere or IBM Guardium. Configure and maintain security policies, access controls, and auditing mechanisms to protect sensitive data. • Optimize database performance through efficient schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and capacity planning. • Monitor database performance metrics and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance. • Manage and administer databases, ensuring availability, reliability, and scalability. • Perform routine maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery procedures. Implement database upgrades and patches as necessary. • Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Monitor database activities for suspicious behaviour and security incidents. • Develop and implement incident response plans for database security breaches. • Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. • Compliance and Policy Management: Ensure databases comply with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and internal security policies. • Develop and enforce database security policies, standards, and procedures. • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with database security vendors and service providers. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in database security technologies. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, security policies, and procedures. • Generate regular reports on database security status, performance metrics, and compliance. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, cybersecurity, and business units to integrate database security requirements into projects and initiatives. • Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions on database security best practices. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. (Master’s degree preferred) • Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Database Security Expert with expertise in database security technologies such as Imperva Secure Sphere, IBM Guardium, or similar. • Strong understanding of database management systems (DBMS), relational database concepts, and SQL query language. • Experience in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting. • Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption techniques, and access controls. • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) related to database security. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Imperva Certified Specialist, IBM Certified Database Administrator) are advantageous.
